There’s nothing quite like a child’s birthday party, but there’s something extra tasty about the frosting on the cake when it’s going to a good cause.
Chevy Grace, who just turned 10 years old, told his mother Jennifer Tow he wanted to have a car show for his birthday party. During the planning phases, the birthday wish grew into a fundraiser for Bentley McMinn, a local 6 year old boy who was recently diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, and his family to help with costs.
Cruise On Into Chevy’s 10th Birthday ended up raising a total of $889.25 for Bentley and his family to help with costs.
Chevy’s mom, Jennifer Tow, said this started when she asked her son how he would like to celebrate. When he said he wanted a car show, Jennifer took to Facebook, where she received an overwhelming response.
“I asked Chevy if he would want to help another little boy and his family,” Jennifer said. “Being the kind little hearted man he is, he says ‘Yeah, mom, that would be fun, let’s do it.’”
The event included a bike run, a corn hole tournament and a bike and car show which took place Saturday, Sept. 7.
Tow said placing in the car show were:
• First Place: Armondo Barber, who sported his own Bat Mobile.
• Second Place: Seth Pollock
• Third place: Tanner Hall
