A little boy’s dream of having a car show for his birthday has grown into a cause which will help a different family and their child diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

Cruise On Into Chevy’s 10th Birthday is set to take place from 2 - 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7 at 1210 W. Highway 7 in Marlow, just west of the Lawton-Duncan Y. The birthday party and car show was set up to celebrate Chevy Grace’s birthday and now has a goal of donating funds to Bentley McMinn, a local 6 year old boy who was recently diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, and his family to help with costs.

Chevy’s mom, Jennifer Tow, said this started when she asked her son how he would like to celebrate. When he said he wanted a car show, Jennifer took to Facebook, where she received an overwhelming response.

“I asked Chevy if he would want to help another little boy and his family,” Jennifer said. “Being the kind little hearted man he is, he says ‘Yeah, mom, that would be fun, let’s do it.’”

With the event only two days away, Jennifer said it’s not too late to join in the fun.

“We decided that whoever wants to join in or just come show off the cars, that’s just fine,” Jennifer said. “Chevy and hopefully — fingers crossed — Bentley is well enough to come and help Chevy pick the best car.”

There will also be a bike run, Jennifer said.

“(It will) start at the Alsup’s south of Duncan,” Jennifer said, including Kristi Howard would be running it. “Kickstands up at 9. It is a 200 mile run with plenty of stops and it will end at our location.”

The open invitations includes basically everything with wheels and a motor, Jennifer said.

“Cars, trucks, big trucks, toys and bikes are all invited,” she said. “Chevy loves anything with a motor. Everyone is invited to this great cause.”

Car entries are by donation only and a corn hole tournament will also take place. The corn hole tournament costs $10 per entry and winners will get half the pot. A moon bounce for kids will also be available along with concessions, which will include Shawn’s famous hot links that Chevy calls the “best hotdogs in the world.”

First, second and third place winners will be announced for the car and bike show.
