tax help

Virgie Hill, tax aide coordinator, reviews information during the AARP tax prep class for volunteers.

Tax season is here, which means it is time to start crunching numbers.

If numbers give you anxiety or you aren’t quite sure how to file taxes yourself, tax-aide volunteers will make themselves available from 8:30-11:30 a.m. each Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday between now and April 15, 2020, at Red River Technology Center.

The volunteers are AARP Foundation IRS Certified Tax-Aide volunteers and they will spend their time preparing and electronically filing tax returns for free for area residents. The program is made possible through AARP’s Foundation which aims to help “low- and middle-income taxpayers with special attention to those ages 60 and older.”

Those wishing to have their taxes prepared for them should bring their taxes to the new location for tax filing at Red River Technology Center’s Jerry D. Morris Business and Industry Center in Room 123.

Those using this method for their taxes should bring last year’s return, official documentation about themselves and their dependants and all forms of incomes and deductions.

Red River Technology Center is located at 3300 W. Bois D’Arc, Duncan. The business center is located on the west end of the campus and those visiting should use parking lot three for the easiest access to the east facing rear door of the building. AARP signs will be posted.
