2017 Veterans Parade

A marching band from Ft. Sill performs during the 2017 Veterans Parade.

Veteran’s Day is Monday, Nov. 11, and as usual, Main Street Duncan will become the center stage for the annual Duncan Veteran’s Day Parade this weekend.

This year’s parade is organized by the VFW and AMVETS, Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and the American Legion. The parade, which will kick off at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, will serve as a way to honor all military Veterans, both past and present, in each of the military branches: Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard.

Parade organizer Daniel Leal said this is a way to give thanks to those who put their lives on the line for the nation.

“November is a wonderful month to give thanks and we are certainly thankful for all our Veterans,” Leal said. “Come out to the parade this Saturday to show support to the Veterans in our community.”

Registration for the parade is still available. If you are a veteran or an organization wanting to participate, you can call 580-736-0311 or sign up the morning of the parade. Parade signups will begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at 12th and Willow.

There is no fee to participate and candy tossing is allowed.

For more information about the event, contact Leal at 580-736-0311 or Larry Davidson at 580-467-6364.
