United Way of Stephens County will set up shop to give out pet food to those in need Thursday, June 4.
Helen Stewart, Director for United Way of Stephens County, said they will run the pet food give away from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday unless they run out of supplies sooner. Supplies will consist of five pound bags of dog and cat food as well as small cans of dog and cat food. The give away will take place in front of the United Way office, located at 12 S. 8th St., Duncan.
Stewart said the donations came from the Department of Agriculture and Stephens County Emergency Management delivered the donations for workers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Though the community is starting to open back up again, not everyone is able to return to work,” Stewart said. “We want the community to know we are here to help whether it’s through referrals to one of our partner agencies or community outreaches such as this one for pets.”
Later this month, United Way will also host another outreach for children.
