Residents in the area have only a few more days to respond to a survey from the Southwest Oklahoma Regional Transportation Planning Organization (SORTPO).

According to data obtained from SORTPO, the organization, in 2021, began the development of a 20-year long-range regional transportation plan for Southwest Oklahoma. This includes counties such as Beckham, Caddo, Comanche, Cotton, Custer, Grady, Greer, Harmon, Jackson, Jefferson, Kiowa, McClain, Roger Mills, Stephens, Tillman, and Washita.

“Upon completion, this plan will address future road, freight, transit, bicycle, and pedestrian needs for southwest Oklahoma,” states a release.

To learn about the needs of the region, SORTPO is asking for the public’s perspectives and opinions on transportation needs and issues.

To get feedback from locals in the area, SORTPO issues a short survey, ranging in five to seven minutes in length, which was developed with a goal to gather information from the public and aid in the development of the regional transportation plan.

The survey period, which began April 19, will close on May 19.

To take the survey, visit, visit or complete a paper copy and deliver it via mail or email to Julie Sanders, 420 Sooner Dr. Burns Flat, OK. For more information, contact Sanders at 580-504-6593.
