Rev. Margo S. Vestal

Rev. Margo S. Vestal,

The Rev. Margo S. Vestal, originally of Marlow, worked as a United Methodist Clergywoman across the state of Oklahoma for the past 20 years.

Rev. Vestal Elder United Methodist Clergy retires from full time ministry after serving 20 years in 2021.

Rev. Vestal entered her relationship with the United Methodist Church as an infant and began her venture into ministry with various positions teaching Sunday School, Youth Ministry and leading bible studies.

Margo married her husband of 47 years Ron Vestal after graduating Marlow High School of Marlow, Oklahoma in 1974 just before beginning school at the University of Oklahoma.

Ron and Margo both graduated OU in 1978 with degrees in art with Margo specializing in Home Economics and Fashion.

Ron continued on to pursue his BSN at OU while Margo worked in design advertising for a clothing company as well as being active in their church UMC of Noble, Oklahoma.

The Vestals had three children, Emily, Chase and Abigail and once all were in school Margo felt called to a more official position within the church and took an Associate Pastor’s role at United Methodist Church of the Good Shepherd in Yukon, OK where then she began taking preparatory courses to enter Seminary at Oklahoma City University.

Margo completed Seminary after attending Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas and graduating with the degree Master of Divinity in 2003.

She had already been appointed to her first pulpit in Covington, Oklahoma and spent two years commuting from Yukon to Dallas to NE Oklahoma.

She was ordained as an Elder in Full Connection with The United Methodist Conference in 2006 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Margo would go on to serve with dedication, compassion and heart at Moore First United Methodist Church, Broken Bow United Methodist Church, Eagletown United Methodist Church, Sayre United Methodist Church, Sunnylane United Methodist Church and Weatherford United Methodist Church.

Margo and Ron were active in each community they served and are still grateful for each dear friend they have met throughout these 20 years.

After completing her commitment in July, Margo and Ron have moved to Norman, Oklahoma where they can settle in and enjoy their new home and cheer on the Sooners.

No one could be more proud of the career Reverend Vestal has had and the great impact she has made all across Oklahoma than Ron, Emily, Chase and Abbie, their spouses, her sister LaDonna Lewis and niece Meredith unless that would have been her parents Jack and Mary Brown who are no longer with us.

A hearty Congratulations to you Reverend Margo Vestal.

Thank you for 20 years to the people of Oklahoma. May you know the difference you have made. God bless you.

Reverend Margo S. Vestal and her husband plan to settle into their retirement home in Norman.
