Games, food trucks, vendors and live entertainment will once again setup in Marlow this weekend for the second annual Second on Second event.
The Second on Second downtown festival in Marlow will occur between Second Street running downtown on the 100 block of North Second Street from 2-8 p.m. on Oct. 9.
The Second on Second Marlow Festival is hosted by the leaders at Giuseppe’s Italian Dining and Cotton Blossom Winery, and provides for a weekend of family fun activities and sales for everyone.
According to organizers, the Second on Second event will be a great way for the community to enjoy the fall and time of harvest.
Tandy Banks, Co-owner of Giuseppe’s and Second on Second co-producer, said they want to bring some family fun to the community.
“Years ago Marlow had a little festival that celebrated the harvest of peanuts from area fields,” Banks said. “It was a block party on Main Street and we grew up with great memories. We’re trying to recreate a little of that fun in a time when some many things have been stressful. We have great businesses and groups here in Marlow and we want to have some fun, celebrate and appreciate what a great thing we have here.”
Returning this year, the corn hole Drop-Down tournament, a three-game guarantee, is $40 per team. Teams can register onsite from 2-2:45 p.m. on Oct. 9 and the games begin at 3 p.m. The tournament will begin on the northern end of the block where teams can compete for cash.
According to a release, another game to return will be one of the event’s signature games, which will mash soccer and billiards together. The game will pull the two game styles into a large pool table where marked soccer balls are used to play eight-ball or similar billiards games and “just like pool there is a carpet felt, six pockets and side board — just bigger and your feet are used to strike the cue ball,” states a release from the Marlow Chamber of Commerce.
Among the free games to enjoy, there will be a soft-dart shooting gallery and yard-sized Jenga.
During the event, there will be live music from local artists beginning at 2 p.m. which will run throughout the event.Artists include Cade Roth, Kaleb Glover and Jaci Jessen, as well as Von Hawks Rising, who will take the stage around 6 p.m.
Vendors will include boutiques, fitness providers and gifts, as well as bingo, a photo booth, hair feathers, face paint and more. Cotton Blossom Winery will serve wine and beer.
Ryan Bell, Owner of Cotton Blossom Winery & Second on Second Co-Producer, said they are excited to host this event for the community.
"We hope it brings families and the community together for fun and fellowship,” Bell said. “We want this event to draw in folks from not only Marlow, but (also) the surrounding communities as well.”
