SCHS Pepper

Running around the office, Pepper showed she is the life of the party. She is available for immediate adoption from the Stephens County Humane Society as an almost two year old Airedale Terrier mixed breed.

If you need a little spice in your home or to warm up the soul with ongoing winter temperatures, Stephens County Humane Society (SHCS) has just the pup for you — Pepper.

Almost two years old, Pepper was an original member of the Stephens County Humane Society as Tinker before another family took a chance to adopt and changed her name.

When Pepper came back into the program, shelter workers used both names and it turns out, she answers to both.

Full grown at a size of 36 pounds, Pepper is a Airedale terrier mixed breed dog.

From the jump, Pepper seemed excited for the outing. She appeared shy when meeting new people, but treats coaxed her out of her shell.

Eventually we learned the sweet pup loves a good tennis ball, and rope toys too, so we had a good time throwing the ball around and playing with toys.

She did well with the ball especially and brought the ball back to continue playing.

We also learned that she is extremely well behaved on a leash, which was properly rewarded with treats from our partner at R&S. She might have been a little too full though.

Upon taking back our friend, staff at the Stephens County Humane Society told us Pepper would have a visitor for an appointment for a possible adoption.

As of press time, we aren’t sure if Pepper was adopted but if she is, they have so many other great choices to adopt including our friend from last week, Bullet.

To set up an appointment for Bullet or any of the other dogs, call 580-252-7387 between the hours of noon and 4 p.m. Weekends have extended hours until 6 p.m.
