State Reps. Trey Caldwell, R-Lawton, and Toni Hasenbeck, R-Elgin, will host a public meeting on redistricting at 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 11, at the Comanche County Farm Bureau, located at 502 SW 11th, Lawton.

The agenda is listed below.

By law, the Legislature must redraw its legislative and congressional district boundaries to reflect changes in population every ten years immediately following the decennial Census. The Oklahoma House of Representatives Redistricting Committee and its eight regional subcommittees are holding a series of town halls throughout the state in December and January to encourage public input in the redistricting process. The meetings are open to anyone who would like to attend.

“We are hosting these meetings because public input is critical as we determine how legislative and congressional districts should be drawn for the next decade,” Caldwell said. “Citizens can participate in person or virtually, and they can always contact their representatives with questions or suggestions.”

Hasenbeck added, “We have set out to make this process as transparent and collaborative as possible. Public input will play a key role in the redistricting decisions made over the coming months.”

Caldwell is chair of the Southwest Oklahoma Subcommittee and Hasenbeck serves as vice chair.

Other members of the Southwest Oklahoma Subcommittee include:

• State Rep. Marcus McEntire, R-Duncan

• State Rep. Brad Boles, R-Marlow

• State Rep. Gerrid Kendrix, R-Altus

• State Rep. Dick Lowe, R-Amber

• State Rep. Daniel Pae, R-Lawton

• State Rep. Rande Worthen, R-Lawton
