Four high school junior girls danced the night away on their own after learning their traditional prom wouldn’t happen this year.
With the help from several family members, the teens took the opportunity to continue “puttin’ on the ritz” with their roaring 20’s prom theme in a local family’s garage.
Wanting nothing but the best for their teens first prom, several pulled together and gave these girls a night to remember.
On May 17, Shelbi and Chandler Small and Kyle and Nicole Mitchell helped give Natalie Small and her friends, Kenzie Rios and twins Tori and Lexi Spruill a prom to remember.
“We figured out that the coronavirus was not going to let them have a prom,” Shelbi Small said. “We decorated our garage … with the theme the Duncan High School was having … the roaring 20’s Great Gatsby theme.”
After getting ready, the girls arrived at their garage prom in a classic car.
“I contacted Jason Hodges for his car and he pick the girls up at her house and brought them to our house,” Shelbi Small said.
Kind gestures and a lot of creativity made a memorable first prom for the young ladies.
“It was their first prom and we wanted to do something for them to remember their first prom,” Shelbi Small said. “We wanted to make their prom memorable.”
