Heavy police activity in the 200 block of north B street in Duncan resulted in lawmen taking a man into custody after accusations of child pornography charges.
Duncan Police and Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) conducted a search warrant on Tuesday in the 200 block of north B Street and took Jeffrey Lee Birst, 69, into custody on multiple child pornography charges.
Information from OSBI shows the case dates back to July when the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) forwarded a cyber tip from an electronic service provider to the OSBI.
From there, OSBI’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) unit opened an investigation. That investigation, OSBI states, led to Birst’s arrest, which took place without incident.
Booked into Stephens County Jail, Birst is charged with possession of child pornography, distribution of child pornography and violation of the Oklahoma Computer Crimes Act.
According to OSBI, those who suspect a child is being sexually exploited should contact the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children immediately at 1-800-THE-LOST or www.cybertipline.com or contact the OSBI Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit at 800-522-8017 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
