Marlow jingles way down Main Street for annual Christmas Parade

Holiday festivities will saunter down Main Street in Marlow to bring Christmas joy to the community in its annual Christmas Parade this weekend.

The Marlow Chamber of Commerce will host the annual parade alongside several volunteers at 10 a.m. on Dec. 3.

Executive Director Destiny Ahlfenger said the parade in Marlow is a treasured event for the community.

“The number of volunteers who do so much work is impressive to say the least,” Ahlfenger said, noting at least 20 members of the community volunteer their time for the event. “That’s what our community is really about — helping each other.”

According to a release, each year the chamber hosts the Marlow Christmas Parade on the first Saturday in December and the parade consists of antique vehicles, floats, tractors and more.

Parade line up will begin between 8-8:45 a.m. on Seminole Avenue, one block south of Marlow’s Main Street. Pre-registration is not required and participants can simply show up. From there, volunteers will direct participants where to line up as well as register them for the potential awards of trophies and prize money. Those participating should know tossing candy and treats in encouraged, but not required.

According to a release, float winners will receive prizes for first, second, third and fourth places, which includes $100 for first, $75 for second, $50 for third and $25 for fourth. Checks will be mailed to the winners.

In the horse division and horse drawn division, first and second place trophies will be awarded. There are also first place trophies awarded to categories including modified vehicle, truck, original vehicle and Christmas Decorated Vehicle.

There will also be trophies awards to the best decorated off-road vehicle, original tractor and unique tractor.

The parade will also include a special appearance by Santa.
