The annual meeting of the Friends of the Duncan Public Library will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 2 at the Duncan Public Library.
Friends of the DPL uses their annual meeting to inform the community of how the group helps the library every year.
Amy Ryker, Library Director said, "with their help raising money, we've been able to purchase several important things over the years, including the outdoor sign, the NanaWall and the StoryWalk."
The meeting event will host a live stream on Facebook allowing for more to have a chance to watch without needing to come to the library.
As a free event to the public, DPL will honor social distancing guidelines with the recommendation of wearing a mask.
"This year, the Friends voted to still have the meeting in person to elect new officers, with masks and socially distanced, followed by some music by local classical guitarist Robert Aguirre," Ryker said. "We will have minimal seating in the main library on both floors so people can space out."
According to Ryker, the group funds every program, craft, and activity for the library's summer reading program every year, as well as providing books through the McNaughton program.
Any member of the community can join the Friends group for $10 a year.
For the cost, "Friends" will get to be apart of helping fund activities and special projects for DPL, as well as four DVD checkouts — from the usual two — and an extra week checkout on all items.
"Everyone can also support us by buying books from the book sale room all year round," Ryker said. "We'll soon have t-shirts and bags provided by the Friends available for purchase as well. "
DPL is located at 3785 N. Highway 81 in Duncan.
