With 100 years of sweetness and authenticity, Dovie Gleghorn, former 2014 Founder’s Day Queen celebrates her 100th birthday this weekend.
Friends will gather together at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 14 at Chisholm Trail Assisted Living where family, friends and anyone from the community can drive by and give her a wave. Gleghorn will watch for friends from the patio.
Gleghorn moved to Duncan in 1943 where she raised her family. She loved the community, creating a home and making friends.
Through her life in Duncan, Gleghorn worked for Halliburton for 33 years, was a Cub Scout leader and has been a member of the Eastern Star.
At 100 years old, she loves watching the birds, according to her friend, Dottie Whiley.
“She has a little bird feeder outside of her window and she loves watching the birds and enjoying the outside,” Whiley said.
She had a garden in which she loved to work in for years.
Gleghorn loves playing the game Canasta and is apart of Westside Christian where she was the representative for Church Women United as well as working for the Toy Shop with the spud luncheon, as well as other events.
Whiley said Gleghorn had a great personality.
“She’s good hearted, generous and just a sweet person, Whiley said.”
Due to COVID-19, it’s asked for those with birthday wishes to remain in their cars. Birthday cards will be received by Frieda in front of the building.
