 An early morning single car crash on Sunday near Duncan left one deceased and another receiving transport by air evac to a hospital in Wichita Falls, Texas.
According to reports obtained from Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP), the collision happened around 2 a.m. on N2770 Road, just a tenth of a mile south of E1770 Road and four miles west of Duncan in Stephens County.
The vehicle involved was a 2003 GMC Sierra containing two occupants. The first was identified as Frederick E. Norman, 34, of Duncan, who was 
transported by air evac to United Regional Hospital in Wichita Falls, Texas. The report says Norman was not injured.
The second occupant was 32 year old Payton L. Mumford, of Fox, Oklahoma, who was pronounced deceased by medical personnel at the scene and was taken by Southwest Mortuary to the Oklahoma Medical Examiner's Office in Oklahoma City.
According to reports, the vehicle was headed southbound on N2770 Road. The vehicle ran off the roadway on the left, according to a report from 
OHP, overcorrected and departed the roadway on the right. The vehicle turned over and struck a barb wire fence before coming to rest on the driver's side of the vehicle.
Reports show Norman said he crawled out of the vehicle. Reports show Mumford was ejected.
According to reports, the cause of the collision and the use of seatbelts remain under investigation. The report also shows the condition of the driver is under investigation.
OHP received assistance from Stephens County Sheriff’s Office, Empire Fire Department and Air Evac.
