Duncan Police Chief Danny Ford confirmed Tuesday morning the department is actively investigating a shooting death at Chisholm Corner on 9th and Bois D’Arc.

According to Chief Ford, calls came in to dispatch around 3:30 a.m. April 27. Ford confirmed there was one deceased male that was found after investigating some nearby gas stations.

The shooter is in custody, according to Chief Ford, who said the first scene was an attempted armed robbery at the Stripes at 12th and Bois D’Arc.

Ford said roughly a few minutes later, they checked all convenience stores in the area and police viewed the man dead on the floor through the window.

There is no active threat at this time, according to Ford, and police remain at the scene to conduct the investigation.

Ford said they are awaiting the medical examiner and expects police to remain on scene for several hours. He said the family of the deceased has been notified but the identity has not been released at this time.

Chisholm Corner owner Brent Bostick released a statement on social media around 7 a.m. on April 27 about the scene and his store.

“With much heartfelt sadness Chisholm Corner stores lost a team member early this morning,” Bostick said. “Please be respectful to the family members and loved ones as we all try to process this terrible act. The suspect has been apprehended and is in police custody.”
