Chisholm Trail Heritage Center staff members are urging adventure seeking couples to support CTHC’s art education program by participating in their SweetheArts on the Trail scavenger hunt that runs Feb. 1 to Feb 28.

SweetheArts on the Trail will take participants on an adventure to locate various forms of art throughout Duncan.

“This is a great way for people to get out and do something fun without having to go in anywhere or really be around a lot of people,” said Leah Mulkey, CTHC assistant executive director. “We wanted to give people a fun activity to do together.”

Mulkey said CTHC staff hope the scavenger hunt will encourage couples to visit local locations and learn more about the arts in Duncan while on a fun excursion.

To be eligible, participants must be a couple, meaning a team of two people. Tickets for SweetheArts on the Trail can be purchased now as Christmas gifts and are $25 per team. Tickets will be available for purchase through Feb. 27.

“This would be a great stocking stuffer,” said Scott Metelko, CTHC executive director.

The scavenger hunt list will be emailed to participants on Feb. 1. Once couples receive the scavenger hunt list, they can begin their adventure. The list will give hints of locations to visit around Duncan.

“When the couples find the intended locations, they will need to complete the photo op listed for that location,” Mulkey said. “We want people to be creative with their photos, and we also included a few bonus photo opportunities.”

The photo ops are tailored to the themes of each location. For example, one location hosts a concert series, so the photo op requires a team member to pose in front of the location acting like they are conducting an orchestra.

Each photo op is assigned points and additional points will be given for bonus photos listed on the scavenger hunt list.

“We are really looking forward to seeing how creative each team is, and we hope they have a great time completing the scavenger hunt,” Mulkey said.

To win, couples must post their photos from the scavenger hunt to CTHC’s SweetheArts on the Trail Facebook event page. The couple who earns the most points will win a gift package that includes a one-night stay for two in the “Trails End Cottage” at the Lindley House in Duncan as well as two tickets to “Lost Shaker of Salt,” a bottle of wine, and more.

If there is a tie, the winning couple will be selected by random draw. The contest deadline is 11:59 p.m. Feb. 28. Submissions will not be accepted after the deadline.

CTHC staff members plan to use the funds from the scavenger hunt to support their arts education program. CTHC educators emphasize the importance of art education and provide lessons about art history and styles that students may not learn in a traditional classroom.
