The Chisholm Trail Arts Council will host their annual youth art reception on Friday.
Youth Art Month kicks off in March and lasts throughout the month. Students from all across Stephens County submitted artwork for the gallery.
The reception will honor and celebrate all of the students who submitted artwork in the Youth Art Month’s “Journey Through Art” exhibit.
A come and go reception will follow the art exhibit from 5 - 7 p.m. on Friday, March 5, which is open to school admin, family and friends.
Awards for artwork will consist of ribbons in three categories: elementary, middle and high school, as well as “Best of Show” cash award per group.
Darcy Reeves, Executive Director of CTAC, said, they had 288 entries from the following schools “with awesome teachers.”
Entries were submitted from Bridgecreek High School — Melissa Mayo and Bridgecreek Middle School; Comanche High School — David Croy; Duncan High School — Sarah Ivey; Duncan Middle School — Shelly Farrar; Elgin High School — Ruth Crittendon; Homeschool Students; Students from Jana’s Studio — Jana Oakman; Lawton Academy of Science & Arts — Kay Johnson; Marlow High School — Arlyn Brantley; Marlow Elementary and Yukon Elementary — Rachel Milner.
Youth submitted their artwork to the gallery by the Feb. 19 deadline to be included in the show.
Along with the gallery show, there will be small snacks and refreshments.
All artwork will hang in the gallery March 1-25 and must remain hanging. Artwork must be picked up from 9:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. March 26, 29, or 30 and CTAC asks artists to call ahead for special arrangements. CTAC is not responsible for any artwork not collected after the March 31.
According to a release, masks are not required to attend, but they are recommended.
“We want everyone to enjoy themselves and celebrate our future artists,” Reeves said.
