A call for artists back in October now has around 130 pieces of art at the Chisholm Trail Arts Council (CTAC) office waiting for the big reveal for the Holiday Art Show and Sale opening on Nov. 21.
“We know there is a lot of talent in our community – and throughout Oklahoma – and now is your chance to show us what amazing talent you have in our Holiday Art Show and Sale,” Darcy Reeves, Executive Director said. “We are featuring 42 different artists from all parts of Oklahoma – and one from Texas- with 130 pieces of art on display. Guest judge for this event is Jacqueline Knapp, USAO Art Administrator.
Knapp, M.F.A., Professor of Art, has served as a faculty member at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma since 1988, full-time since 1998 and Art Department Coordinator since 2013. In addition to her work in the classroom, Knapp is the Director of the 3rd Floor Gallery, organizes on campus art shows including the Montmartre Chalk Art Festival and Innovations High School Art Competition.
The show will have a first, second and third place in three categories: Fine Art, Photography, and Three Dimensional. Prizes totaling $1,875 will be awarded in these categories including Best of Show and Honorable Mentions.
Reeves said the judging is on Nov. 19, and then the award reception from 5:30 to 7 p.m Nov. 21 at the CTAC office located at 810 W. Walnut.
“There will be a ‘People’s Choice Award’ that the attendees can do for $1 per vote, with all proceeds going towards Chisholm Trail Arts Council,” Reeves said. “There will be light appetizers and wine during the reception.” For more information, call the CTAC office at 580-252-4160 or email email@example.com.
