Cowboys, poetry and music are on this week’s agenda.
A Spring Roundup featuring Cowboy Poetry from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 29, will take place at The Chisholm Trail Heritage Center.
The poetry event is sponsored and hosted by Bill (Ace) Rendall of Tehachapi, California and Ron Secoy of Central High, Oklahoma.
Together, Rendall and Secoy will bring a lunch time program of cowboy music and poetry.
According to a release, Rendall is a fourth generation Oklahoman, who has worked at Will Rogers Hollywood Ranch for 15 years, and has been involved with the rodeo for 30 years.
Secoy, a long-time resident of Central High, has written multiple volumes of cowboy poetry.
Joining Rendall and Secroy in the poetry event are Tim Martin and Rick Mahaffey of Comanche, Texas.
A release states, “Martin is a songwriter, musician and singer who easily warbles classic and contemporary cowboy songs. His side kick, Glenn Murray is a multi-talented performer including acting, movie making, horseman, horse trainer, rodeo announcer, musician and singer.”
Mahaffey is a retired public school teacher, coach and administrator formerly with Marlow, Duncan and Lawton Public Schools.
Along with the event, there will be food trucks, as well as picnic tables available for guests. Lawn chairs are encouraged for additional seating.
The poetry event is free to the public.
CTHC will only act as the venue for the event and is located at 1000 Chisholm Trail Parkway in Duncan.
