Shoppers will unite soon. July made it’s appearance and the traditional event everyone has waited for will take place next weekend.
For many, it’s a tradition and a must do when coming to town every July and this year it will continue like in years past.
Chris Deal, Chairman and CEO of the Duncan Chamber of Commerce, said the yard sale started shortly after Main Street.
It started “as a way to extend back to school shopping with the month before you go back to school,” Deal said.
July 17 and 18, the community wide event will take place for all who want to participate.
Merchants are encouraged to run specials, whether it’s like they did in the past by running specials in their store or setting merchandise on the sidewalk.
“It’s really organic and kind of an opportunity for people to just come into the community and have fun,” Deal said.
Anyone wishing to get involved can do so, though they should contact City of Duncan to see if permits or anything like that are required for where they plan to host the sale.
Anyone wishing to advertise their garage sale can contact The Banner at 580-255-5354 and direct their calls to classifieds.
