Law enforcement has apprehended a man they say is accused of raping a minor.
According to court records, Noah Christian Smith, 20, of Comanche, faces two counts of rape in the first degree to a victim under the age of 14.
Records show a report of the rape came in to law enforcement on April 27, 2021, through means of a forensic interview and the victim said it had allegedly occurred twice.
The same affidavit filed by Stephens County Sheriff’s Office shows there is a “second report with similar details for sexual assault with Noah Smith as the suspect that is being forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office that occurred in a different jurisdiction.” The victims, according to the report, “appear to have physical and mental similarities.”
Smith appeared before a Stephens County judge on Thursday. He received a bond set at $500,000.
Smith is scheduled for an attorney announcement date at 2 p.m. May 27, 2021. He is due back in court following that for a preliminary hearing conference, scheduled for 9 a.m. June 16, 2021.
