The weather must have received the memo that the 16th annual Comanche Fall Fest was set for this week and it needed to get with the program.
The Fall Fest, hosted by the Comanche Ag Boosters, is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 12 along Oak Main Street in Comanche.
Kerry (Cox) Cross, Comanche Ag Boosters Member, said there was many partners as part of the day.
“This is a fun event that helps multiple organizations fundraise while providing a safe and fun activity for the whole family to participate,” she said.
Some activities include: Comanche Area Toys for Tots hosting a Car Show, Chamber of Comanche sponsoring inflatable bounce houses for kids, Corn Hole Tournament sponsored by Southern Sass Salon, Turkey Calling Contest sponsored by Southern Strutters-NWTF Oklahoma Chapter and prizes sponsored by Miller Insurance and an Antique Tractor Show.
“This is just a portion of the fun and entertainment available,” Cross said. “There will also be lots of food, arts and crafts, and booths from local businesses and vendors.”
The Turkey call contest registration starts at 9 a.m. with the contest starting at 11 a.m. There are two divisions: youth, 15 and younger, with a $10 entry fee; open, 16 and older with a $15 entry fee. The call lists for the divisions are:
Youth — Plain yelp, cutting and putt
Open — Plain yelp, cutting, flydown cackle, KeeKee Run and Cluck and Purr.
Any turkey calls may be used so long as they are not mechanical or electronic.
Corn Hole Tournament details are: 1 p.m. start with it being a single elimination tournament for two member teams, entry fee is $20 per team. First place wins a set of corn hole boards. Proceeds benefit Comanche Area Toys for Tots.
