When The Duncan Banner published its first edition in September 1892, it shared office space with a saddle shop on Main Street. From there, The Banner moved a few times before eventually ending up at our location at 10th and Elm in November 1973.
After 47 years in our Elm location, The Banner is excited to announce, WE ARE MOVING! We have recently acquired a building right on Main Street in historic downtown Duncan. This move is something we have wanted to do for awhile. We feel this will make us more accessible to the public. We will be located at 811 W. Main on the north side, just a couple of doors down from R&S Drug Store. This move is something we feel is long overdue.
Throughout our 128 years, The Banner and its staff built upon the work of those who have come before us by bringing the county trusted, local news and advertising, produced by local people, in order to inform, educate and even entertain Stephens County’s citizens.
During the years, The Banner has grown alongside Duncan and Stephens County, watching over our friends and neighbors, providing written records of local history, taking part in special projects and helping the region’s businesses to prosper.
We feel this move to contemporary office space in historic downtown will strengthen our bond with our readers and the business community.
As many of you know, when moving, unexpected challenges arise. We plan on moving into the new location during the week of July 6-10. We will continue to produce issues of The Banner and content for our website during this transition. We plan to have all operations working out of the new location by Monday, July 13, 2020. We will keep you updated as we progress.
We welcome and encourage you to drop in and say hello, start a subscription, pass along a news tip or place an ad.
