Fiber Internet is coming to Duncan.

An announcement early this week saw Dobson Fiber pledge expansion of its fiber Internet offerings in Duncan and a celebration of the expansion saw representatives from Arvest Bank, City of Duncan, First Bank & Trust and Duncan Chamber of Commerce attending.

The multi-million dollar expansion by Dobson Fiber will make the sixth residential market launch and expansion in the past seven months for the company, according to CEO Francisco Maella.

“Dobson cannot wait to be part of the Duncan community. We are bringing the best fiber network and fastest residential speeds offered in the United States. We will be deploying a network that has been designed to offer up to 10 gigabits per second to the residents we serve here,” Maella said. “Our commitment to launching innovative products and the latest technology is unwavering to the businesses and residents we serve.”

Jim Horsburgh, Chief Strategy Officer for Dobson Fiber, said other major network investments in the area include Lawton, Enid, Weatherford, Waurika and Atoka.

“We’ve seen exceptional customer adoption this year and we are thrilled to further our footprint in more markets across Oklahoma and Arkansas. We have put together a plan to expand our fiber network to reach the vast majority of the homes and businesses here,” Horsburgh said.

According to the company, construction of the network will be completed in geographic zones. Once each zone is nearing completion, residents will be notified when they can begin to sign up for service.
