Life is good for unopposed candidates

DUNCAN —  In politics, it’s usually good to be the incumbent.

When you’re the incumbent and no one runs against you, it’s really good.

District Attorney Jason Hicks, County Treasurer Janice Graham, County Assessor Cathy Hokit, Republican State Rep. Dennis Johnson of Duncan and Republican State Rep. Scott Biggs of Chickasha did not draw a primary opponent or an opponent in Nov. 4 General Election.

District 3 Commissioner Dee Bowen of Comanche and District 1 Commissioner Darrell Sparks of Marlow, both Democrats, are unopposed in the primary on Tuesday but will have opposition on Nov. 4 from Republicans Ron Smith  of Duncan and David McCarley of Marlow, who will be nominated on Tuesday without opposition in the Republican primary.

Should the date for The World's Largest Garage Sale be changed from the third weekend in July to sometime in October to take advantage of cooler weather like we had this past weekend?

No. It's better in the summer cause kids are out of school.
Yes. More shoppers would come during nice fall weather.
Either time is fine.
