Miss Comanche pageant to have Elvis theme

DUNCAN — Nine teenage girls  will vie for the title of Miss Comanche on Saturday.

It will be the 28th year for the competition.

The pageant will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Asbury Complex in Comanche.

Contestants are: Marissa Beeson, a 17-year-old junior, Brianna Walker, a 15-year-old sophomore, Katherine Tilley, a 16-year-old sophomore, Katie Dobbins, an 18-year-old senior, Payge Graham, an 18-year-old senior, Hayden Stephenson, a 17-year-old senior, Baylee Fulford, a 15-year-old sophomore, Christi White, an 18-year-old senior, and Sarah McGar, an 18-year-old senior.

Beverly Clark, who is organizing this year’s event, said the girls have practiced all week and will have their dress rehearsal tonight at the Asbury Complex.

“Some of our girls went on their senior trip and weren’t able to make it to practice (Wednesday night),” Clark said.

At the practices, the contestants rehearse their talents as well as their opening dance number.

This year’s theme will be “Viva Las Vegas” -- a tribute to Elvis Presley. The pageant’s opening number will fall in line with the Vegas/Elvis theme.

Tickets are $10 at the door, or $8 if bought from one of the pageant contestants.
