Deanna Kay O'Hara Williams

DUNCAN — Deanna Kay O'Hara Williams, 55, of Duncan, died Thursday, April 10, 2014 in Duncan.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 14, 2014 at Chisholm Trail Church of Christ with Pastor David Heitner officiating and assisted by Pastor David Thompson. Interment will follow at Rock Creek Cemetery under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Deanna Kay was born May 27, 1958 in Oklahoma City to Max and Florence (Mueller) O'Hara. She began school in Oklahoma City and later attended Banner Elementary School in El Reno, Oklahoma. She graduated from El Reno High School and Southwestern Oklahoma State University, where she majored in education, earning a master's degree, with honors, in counseling. Deanna started her teaching career at Cheyenne, Okla. She then went back to college at Concordia University in Seward, Neb. and earned another degree in Lutheran education. Deanna continued her teaching career with the Amber-Pocassett school system.

On July 12, 1992, Deanna married Kenneth Ray Williams Jr. in El Reno. She was the school counselor at Walters, Okla., at that time. On June 16, 1995, their daughter, Kaila Raeann was born.  She was the school counselor with the Marlow School system. On May 30, 1997, their son, Lane Thomas Williams was born.

In 2005, Deanna started working with the Empire School system, and was there for eight years, and then the next two years was the counselor at Central High School.

Deanna was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and enjoyed teaching Vacation Bible School and Sunday School. She loved anything that Ken, Kaila and Lane were doing, like farming, showing cattle, 4-H, FFA and going to church. She also enjoyed volunteering  and helping others.

Survivors include her husband, Kenny, her daughter, Kaila and son, Lane, all of the home; her parents, Max and Florence O'Hara of El Reno; two brothers, Loren O'Hara and Bert O'Hara and his wife Laura, all of El Reno; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Kenneth and Lois Williams and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Patti and Mark Thaxton, all of Duncan; Nieces and Nephews: McCall White, Forrest Moore, Mary O'Hara, Grady O'Hara, Kale Thaxton, Christian Thaxton, Connor Thaxton and several cousins and other family members.

Pallbearers will be: Corie Autry, Patrick Richardson, Kim Spain, Scott O'Hara, Stanley O'Hara and Dirk O'Hara. Honorary bearers are: Benny Johnson, Todd Brady, Dale Goodrich, Will Derryberry, Christian Thaxton, Kale Thaxton and Connor Thaxton.
