Corporon memorial planned for Friday in Marlow

DUNCAN — A candlelight vigil for Dr. William Corporon and his grandson Reat Underwood will be held at Marlow High School at 8 p.m. Friday.

The memorial is being organized by Marlow High School classmates of Mindy Corporon, a 1986 Marlow High graduate who is Corporon’s daughter and the mother of Reat, said Naomi Grigg of Duncan.

The Rev. Russ Stewart, pastor of Stephens County Worship Center, will be the main speaker at the memorial, Grigg said. Members of the Marlow Class of 1986 also will speak, she said.

Corporon, killed with his grandson by a gunman in Overland Park, Kan., on Sunday,  was a longtime Marlow resident before he and his wife relocated to Kansas in 2003.

“It was a huge shock,” Grigg said. “The entire family contributed so much to the community for so long.”
