Bessie Juanita Jackson

DUNCAN — Bessie Juanita Jackson, 85, of Central High community, passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Central High Baptist Church.  Burial will follow at Rock Creek Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Don Grantham Funeral Home, Duncan.

The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 20th at the funeral home.

Juanita  was born July 27, 1928 to Margaret Arenna and Roy Lynn Shaddock at Comanche.  She was a graduate of Comanche High School. She married Bernice Glyn Jackson on June 21, 1947 in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Juanita was a homemaker and worked for Central High Public Schools as a cook for several years. She was a very talented seamstress and made numerous clothes for her children and grandchildren.  

She was a member of Central Baptist Church and helped in the nursery for a big part of her life.  She instilled in her children the importance of prayer and having God in their lives.  She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Juanita is survived by her husband, Glyn of the home; five children: Margaret Johnson and husband Benny of Duncan, Jackie Jackson and wife Julie of Piedmont, Donald Jackson and wife Vicki of Duncan, Ronald Jackson and wife Sandy of Houston, Texas and Beverly Norman and husband Richard of Marlow;  one sister, Florence Breashers  and one brother, Glen Shaddock both of Duncan; thirty grandchildren: Kelly and Cindy Johnson, Shawn and Shawna Johnson, Bennett and Jenni Jackson, Brandon and Adrienne Jackson, Brett and Ashley Jackson, Jeremiah and Keely Jackson, Rachel and Ryan Hightower, Jeri and Kristen Hammack, Josh Homier, Lindsey and Josh Carter, Taylor Jackson, Colby Jackson, Cody and Jordan Cook, Courtney Cook, Jeff and Britani Wludyka, Logan and Kassi Pulis, Kody and Jami Simpson; seventeen great-grandchildren: Shane and Cortney Claborn, Chandler Johnson, Cassidy King, Jace Jackson, Halle Hightower, Jaiden Hammack, Lark Hammack, Violet Hammack, Londyn Homier, Carlie Jackson, Ashlyn Wludyka, Tenley Wludyka, Jaxson Wludyka, Londyn Pulis, Trypp Pulis, Kaison Simpson and two great-great-grandchildren: Conner & Colton Clayborn.

Juanita was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Johnny Shaddock and J.R. Shaddock.

Pallbearers will be Kelly Johnson, Jeremiah Jackson, Shawn Johnson, Ryan Tightower, Bennett Jackson, Taylor Jackson, Brandon Jackson, Colby Jackson, Brett Jackson and Cody Cook.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Central Baptist Church - Nursery Fund, 7001 W. Bronco Rd, Marlow, OK 73055.

  • Big game atmosphere VYPE picks Duncan to make playoffs

    Despite facing a rigorous schedule, Duncan was picked by VYPE’s preseason football preview to return to the postseason after a one-year hiatus.
    With new coach Craig Benson taking over this season, the magazine predicted Duncan will finish fourth in Class 5A District 1 ahead of Chickasha and behind Ardmore. The Demons are also ranked as the No. 16 team in the Class, with Lawton Mac being the highest ranked team in the district at No. 4.
