Optimist Club presents Safety on Wheels

DUNCAN — The Optimist Club of Duncan is gearing up for its first annual Safety on Wheels Bike Rodeo and Patriotic Parade.

The parade, set to take place 10 a.m. June 28, will be separated into different age groups: 3-6, 6-11, 11-16 and 16-18.

Bob Blosser, former president of the Duncan Optimist Club, said he hopes to promote bicycle safety with the event.

“We’ll be giving helmets away and holding skill tests as well as checking bicycles to see if they’re safe to operate,” Blosser said.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. the day of the event at Chisholm Trail Heritage Center, where the event will kick off.

There will also be prizes for best decorated wheels and best patriotic costumes.

The event is sponsored by the Flat Cam Car Club and Ace Hardware.

Should the date for The World's Largest Garage Sale be changed from the third weekend in July to sometime in October to take advantage of cooler weather like we had this past weekend?

No. It's better in the summer cause kids are out of school.
