Eliseo 'Al' Bernal

Sept. 7, 1932 – June 1, 2014

EL MONTE, CALIF. — Eliseo “Al” was born in El Monte, Calif., to Ramona and Salvador Bernal on Sept. 7, 1932. He left this earth on June 1, 2014. Al lived in Bakersfield for over 40 years.

Al is survived by his three daughters, Suzanne Bernal of Duncan, Carolyn Funk of Marlow and Cecilia Dibbern of Bakersfield, Calif.; three grandchildren, Eliseo Snay, Jeff  Dibbern, and Michelle Bernal; his sisters, Rosario Rados of Oak View, Calif., and Delores Fajardo of Whittier, Calif. He also leaves behind a great-grandson, McDaniel; and his longtime companion, Adela Picar.

Al had numerous friends with whom he had lifelong relationships, many dating back to his first school years and beyond from Medina Court, El Monte. He also had many friends in the Kern County and southern California area. Al will be sorely missed by all – his laughter, his stories, and his love of life in general.

A visitation will be held on Friday, June 6, 2014, from 4 to 8 p.m., with a Rosary at 6 p.m., at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Chapel, 2739 Panama Lane. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2014, at 10 a.m. at Greenlawn Celebration of Life Center – Southwest, Building D. A reception will follow at his home.
