Brenda Joan Daley

Feb. 12, 1940-May 28, 2014

DUNCAN — Brenda Joan Daley, 74, went to be with her Savior on May 28, 2014 after a short illness.

Brenda was born Feb. 12, 1940 in a wooden farm house west of Marlow to Ruel and Mildred Blake. As the younger of two girls, Brenda was driven by accomplishment which showed in her academic skills and her amazing singing talent. After high school she attended business colleges in Wichita Falls, Texas and set her sights on traveling the world and achieving success in the world of finance.

That goal took a slight turn when she was reintroduced to a family friend, Dan Daley in 1960. After a brief courtship, they were married on Feb. 19, 1961 in Marlow. What followed was the life that Brenda had always dreamt of. Along with Dan and her two children, Brenda traveled the world and lived in such diverse places as Medan, Indonesia, Aberdeen, Scotland and Duncan. During this time abroad she also honed her social skills and became an adept bridge player and hostess.

After she and Dan retired in 1984, the travel bug struck again. They purchased a travel trailer and became snow birds, traveling the nation’s highways and were always excited by what may be around the next bend. Brenda was always in search of new adventures and new friendships. She loved meeting new people and along the way, Brenda welcomed two grand babies and would often travel to Minnesota to spend summers with them.

After Dan passed away in 2009, Brenda moved to Colorado to be closer to her daughter and granddaughters. She always loved to travel and being on a new adventure always did well for her soul, and now she is now on the greatest adventure ever. She always said that when she got to heaven, Dan better have his good shoes on because they were going to dance together forever.

Brenda is survived by her aunt Joan Ward, her son Ruel Alan Daley, her daughter Dana Sue Cook and her granddaughters, Britany and Meghan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister Ruelene Gray, her son Charles Bruce and her grandson Tyler Alan Daley.

Graveside Memorial Services for Brenda will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at the Marlow Cemetery and will be under the direction of the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home.
