Fish Fry draws top GOP leaders

DUNCAN — Nine of Oklahoma’s 12 statewide elected officials are expected to attend the annual Stephens County GOP Fish Fry on Saturday.

The event has evolved into the largest Republican Party gathering in the state, outside of party conventions, according to County Republican Chairman Leon Farris.

Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin will be the keynote speaker. The event begins at 6 p.m. but Farris suggested  voters who want to chat with party candidates should arrive early.

The fish fry is the main fund-raising event for county Republicans. Individual tickets are $25 each.

Fried catfish, coleslaw and beans are on the menu.

There will be a live auction that will include a pair of former President George HW Bush’s socks.

The Dr. Gerald Beasley Jr. Memorial Award will be given to a party volunteer activist.
