Joseph Leonard Mackey

Oct. 6, 1938 - July 11, 2014

DUNCAN — Joseph Leonard Mackey, born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Oct. 6, 1938, died peacefully in his home on July 11, 2014, Duncan.

The family will receive friends 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Don Grantham Funeral Home.

A Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at Assumption of the Blessed Mary Catholic Church; 711 W. Hickory; Duncan.  Services are under the direction of the Don Grantham Funeral Home.

He is survived by his daughter, Donna Pitti Gilland; son-in-law, Joseph Byron Gilland; four grandchildren, Adoria Pitti Jean and her husband Christopher Jean, Edward Constantine Pitti, Ariana Marie Pitti and Joseph George Schwartz and one great-grandchild, Angelina Marie Jean; first wife, Carmela Mackey; and a sister, Patricia Tufarella and husband John. 

He follows his second wife in death, Margot Mackey.

He was a giant of a man to his family and friends and would never turn away someone in need, always being the first one there to help. He knew the value of life. He will be missed and always loved and remembered. He was and always will be our giant.

Should the date for The World's Largest Garage Sale be changed from the third weekend in July to sometime in October to take advantage of cooler weather like we had this past weekend?

No. It's better in the summer cause kids are out of school.
Yes. More shoppers would come during nice fall weather.
Either time is fine.
