Ratta McDonald

March 21, 1927-July 4, 2014

DUNCAN — Ratta McDonald, 87, of Duncan, left her life peacefully on Friday July 4, 2014 at Duncan Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be held at Ray of Hope Church in Comanche, Wednesday July 9, 2014 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dow Pannell and Rev. Mike McCord officiating. Burial will be held at Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home. The family will receive friends and celebration of her life on Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Don Grantham Funeral Home.

Ratta Mae McDonald was born in Marlow to Thomas and Hattie (Simmons) Tom on March 21, 1927. Ratta attended a little County School east of Marlow until the ninth grade before going to work at Duncan Laundry to help support her family. Then went on to work at Halliburton. Later in life she worked for Gibson's Department Store until she retired in 1986. Ratta was a loving, hardworking homemaker. In her spare time she enjoyed dancing and watching soap operas but most of all enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren that meant the world to her.

Ratta was preceded in death by her husband Jody McDonald, her parents Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Tom, brothers Thomas Tom Jr., and Dean Tom; sisters, Rosalee Tom and Mary Tom; daughter, Debbie Werner; grandson, Cody Wayne Robertson and great-grandson Beau Wiktorik.

Survivors included her sister, Juanita Murray of Duncan; daughter, Becky and her husband Troy Robertson of Duncan; daughter, Wanda and her husband Robert Rasberry of Comanche; son, Thomas Dee and his wife Jeana McDonald of Comanche; son-in-law, Kirk Werner of Altus; granddaughters, LaDonna Red Elk, Yolonda Taylor, Teri Davis, Jessica Young, Deadra Gardenhire, and Megan McDonald and eighteen great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers for services will be grandsons Travis Werner, Jody Werner, Steve Red Elk, Mark Gardenhire and great-grandsons Aaron Red Elk and Ryan Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be grandson Ivan Ritter, Chris Young and great-grandsons Tyler Ritter, Coltynn Ritter, Hawk Ritter, Dean Ritter, Michael Werner, Daniel Wyatt, and Dalton Werner.
