DUNCAN — A house fire killed two people, one of them a young child, early Saturday morning.

The house at 209 East Arapaho caught fire around 3:30 a.m. according to Marlow fire Chief Ryan Hall. He was unavailable for further comments.

A family friend said that victims were a two-year-old girl and 25-year-old Courtney, last name unknown. Courtney was trying to save the child.

About three to five other people escaped the fire without injury. Fire crews spent about five hours trying to extinguish the flames.

The incident and how it started are still being investigated by the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
