Margie Louise Barrick

DUNCAN — Margie Louise Barrick, 86, longtime resident of Duncan entered Heaven's gates on Tuesday, May 6 at her home.  

Funeral services  will be 2 p.m., Friday, May 9, 2014 at Bible Baptist Church, officiated by Brother Jeremy Taylor. Interment will follow at Duncan Cemetery under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6-7 p.m.

Margie was born on Dec. 5, 1945 nine miles East of Duncan to Troy and Birdie (Jennings) Bowden. She was a graduate of Duncan High School, a homemaker, a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Duncan  and loved serving her Lord. She enjoyed sewing and spending time with her family.

Margie married George Edgar Barrick on Feb. 18, 1945 in Duncan.   

Margie is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years George Edgar Barrick, her parents Troy and Birdie Bowden; her son George Keith Barrick; three brothers, W. T. Bowden, Jerry Bowden, Dewey Bowden, and her sister, Helen Presgrove.

Margie is survived by her son Charles Lynn Barrick and his wife Catherine of Duncan, daughter in law, Marilyn Barrick of Whitesboro, Texas; her brothers, Jim and his wife Sharon Bowden of Comanche, Bob and his wife Linda Bowden of Comanche, Loyd and Barbara Bowden of Duncan; seven grandchildren, Tonya and her husband Jim Watson of Whitesboro, Texas, Bret and his wife Monica Barrick of Mineral Wells, Texas, Ty and his wife Holli Barrick of Orange Grove, Texas, Kylie and her husband Nathan Bowles of Era, Texas, Christopher Barrick of Duncan, Micheal and his wife Kerry Barrick of Norman, Stephanie Barrick and her husband Bud Hayes of Ely City, Okla.; 18 great-grandchildren, Cody and his wife Cheyenne, Coy Barrick, Morgan Watson, Mikayla Watson, Tristan Bowles, Yancy Bowles, Lexi Barrick, Keaton Barrick, Tyndel Barrick and Payden Barrick all from Texas, Elizabeth Barrick, Cory Mercer, Collin Mercer, Cameron Mercer, Charles Mercer, Christian Mercer, Brooks Barrick, and Sydney Barrick all from Oklahoma; and one great-great-granddaughter who will be arriving on May 15, 2014; Bryndal Kaye Barrick of Texas.

Should the date for The World's Largest Garage Sale be changed from the third weekend in July to sometime in October to take advantage of cooler weather like we had this past weekend?

No. It's better in the summer cause kids are out of school.
Yes. More shoppers would come during nice fall weather.
