Claud Weldon Sweat

Nov. 16, 1938 - June 1, 2014

MARLOW —     Claud Weldon Sweat, 75, of Marlow, passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2014 at his home in Marlow.

    Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel, Duncan with the Rev. Billy Morgan officiating. Interment will follow at Marlow Cemetery.

    The family will receive friends  5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 4th at the funeral home.

    Claud was born on Nov. 16, 1938 in Duncan to Eunice and Claud Wesley Sweat.  He married Joy Mayes on Dec. 8, 2008 in Lawton.

    Claud was a self-employed contractor working in construction.  He enjoyed fishing and coon hunting and also loved to feed and watch wildlife, especially deer.

    Survivors include his wife, Joy, of the home; five children: Audrey Ahart and husband Troy of Duncan, Randall Sweat of Paris, Texas, Peggy Cox and husband Arlan of Crowder, Oklahoma, Rhonda Smith and husband Ralph and Brian Davis and wife Amanda, all of Marlow; two sisters, Teresa Harris and husband Kenny and Twila Garner and husband Don, all of Duncan; three brothers, Calvin Sweat and wife Faye of Duncan, Martin Sweat and wife Linda of Marlow and Troy Sweat of Rush Springs, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Sarah Moore, Alex Ahart, Andrew Ahart, Hailey Sweat, Cody Smith, Luke Davis and Jo'Leigh Davis and one great grandchild, Yeliah Sweat.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Colter and a granddaughter, Faylee.

    Pallbearers will be Ralph Smith, Arlan Cox, Kenny Taylor, Rodney Wright, Dennis Sweat and Brian Davis.

    In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to The American Cancer Society or The American Heart Association.
