Bethany - Howell

DUNCAN — Jenna Kelby Bethany of Oklahoma City and Dickson James Howell of Edmond exchanged wedding vows at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, at the Oklahoma City Public Farmers Market.

Theme for the wedding was “Best Day Ever.” Ryan Young, youth minister of Elk City First Baptist Church, and the bride’s brother, Joshua Bethany, of Arlington, Va., officiated the double ring ceremony.

Bride’s parents are Jim and Janis Bethany of Duncan. Her grandmother is Mrs. Earleen Dibrell, also of Duncan. Groom’s parents are Dick and Libby Howell of Edmond.

The vintage farmer’s market was decorated with white hanging lanterns and overhead twinkle lights. White trees featuring hanging tea lights created the backdrop on a stage set in front of wide windows looking out at the Bricktown cityscape. Black candle lanterns lined the bridal aisle.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore a Vera Wang gown from the White collection. The gown featured a banded, bias-cut bodice layered with raw-edged taffeta and delicate net. The full taffeta skirt featured net veiling.

A wide sash tied in a side bow accented the empire waist. Skirt pockets and petal styling in the back completed the gown. As a headpiece, the bride chose a handmade double-banded satin ribbon embellished with silver beads and accented with rhinestones.

The bride carried a ribbon-wrapped bouquet of white hydrangeas and white roses accented with yellow Gerber daisies and yellow Billy balls.

Matron of honor was Bethany Stewart of Oklahoma City. Maid of honor was Jessica Lewis of Venice, Calif.

Bridesmaids were Baylie Berninger of Duncan, Ail Aufleger of Stillwater, Mickaela Ellard of Stillwater, Dallyn Minnick of Woodward, and Megan McDown of Oklahoma City.

Attendants wore knee-length Vera Wang bodice net dresses featuring illusion necklines, ruched bodices, and asymmetrically draped bubble skirts. A gray taffeta sash accented the waists of the ebony dresses. The bridesmaids carried yellow bouquets of Gerber daisies.

Featured as honorary attendants were the five sisters of the bride and groom: Jill Bethany of Denver, Colo., Nicki Bethany of Arlington, Va., Jordan Grovenburg of Duncan, Sara Howell of Oklahoma City, and Megan Wisenbaugh of Phoenix, Ariz. The sisters also wore the Vera Wang bridesmaids dresses. Ebony taffeta sashes accented their gray dresses. The sisters carried ribbon-wrapped yellow Craspedia Billy Balls.

Best man was Clay Ferguson of Norman. Groomsmen were Joe Goolsby of Wichita, Danny Beattie of Dallas, Texas, Jon Chang of Tulsa, Reed Ellard of Stillwater, Matt Howard of Little Rock and Jordan Stivers of Edmond. Ushers were Grant Field of Stillwater, Brett Reavis of Stillwater, and Eric Wisenbaugh of Phoenix, Ariz.

House party attendants were Lindy Barton of Tulsa, Amy Johnson of Wichita, Damaris Pierce of Tulsa, and Meredith Thornbrough of Altus.

Flower girls were the three nieces of the bride: Alexis Bethany of Arlington, Va., Dilan and Kayden Grovenburg, both of Duncan.

The girls each carried handpainted wooden signs collectively reading, “Here Comes the Bride.”

Jordan Stivers and Matt Howard performed a guitar and vocal duet of “I Won’t Give Up” during the marriage ceremony.

The reception area featured ivory draped tables decorated with tall vases of lemons with twirling branches, black candle lanterns, and family Bibles. The reception featured a cupcake corner, a Thunder groom’s cake, a popcorn bar and a smores station.

A highlight of the reception was the appearance of Rumble, the OKC Thunder mascot. Rumble presented gifts to the bride and groom, danced with the guests and entertained the crowd.

Rumble’s visit was a surprise gift arranged for the couple by the groom’s sisters.

A rehearsal dinner, hosted by the groom’s parents, was held at Mama Roja’s on Hefner Lake Sept. 6.

Following a trip to the El Dorado Royale on the Mexican Riviera, the couple is at home in The Village in Oklahoma City.

Should the date for The World's Largest Garage Sale be changed from the third weekend in July to sometime in October to take advantage of cooler weather like we had this past weekend?

No. It's better in the summer cause kids are out of school.
Yes. More shoppers would come during nice fall weather.
Either time is fine.
