Mayes — Towell

DUNCAN — Jenny Lee Mayes and Chase Austin Towell, both of Duncan, exchanged wedding vows at 2 p.m. April 14, 2012, in Chisholm Trail Church of Christ officiated by Bill Mayes, uncle of the bride who officiated the bride’s parents’ wedding 35 years ago.

Bride’s parents are Ricky and Dinah Mayes of Duncan. Her grandparents are Howard and Nell Suffern of Lawton and Gerald and Betty Kahlden of Elgin.

Groom’s parents are Dale and Stacy Towell of Duncan. His grandparents are Raymond and the late Fay Towell of Duncan, Barbara Suitor or Purcell and Velma LaRue McCallister of Duncan.

Recorded music was coordinated by Buck Williams and the foyer coordinator was Donna Whiteman.

The couple exchanged vows under a cedar arbor made by the bride’s father, which was entwined with a garland of tiny yellow flowers, tulle and tiny sparkling lights. A lantern hung from each post that were lit by the mothers. An old pair of the groom’s boots were transformed into vases at the base of the arbor and filled with yellow and aqua wild flowers.

The couple used sand to symbolize the joining of their two lives that they poured into an antique Mason jar which stood on a lighted base behind the arbor. The aisles were decorated with tin buckets wrapped in burlap containing white bell-shaped flowers, sparkling beads and tulle.

Jenny was escorted by her father, Ricky Mayes.

She wore a Mori Lee design with an organza ball gown silhouette, a unique floral design skirt, wrapped sweetheart neckline and a ribbon waist with flower detail. Her elbow length veil was designed and hand beaded by her mother and embroidered with a “T” on the back to honor the couple’s new name. It was fastened to a pearl clip.

She carried a unique bouquet designed by the bride and her mother, made entirely of antique broaches collected from family and friends very special to her. The stem was secured by satin ribbon and pearls with flowering organza ribbon streamers.

All the mothers and grandmothers wore corsages designed by the bride’s mother made of organza aqua and yellow flowers and ribbon.

Maid of honor was Alaina Daniel of Pottsboro, Texas.

Bridesmaid was Jordan Bracken of Duncan.

Attendants wore knee-length aqua satin formals with aqua and yellow flowers on one shoulder and a yellow satin sash with a bow detail at the waist. They carried bouquets of tiny yellow silk flowers surrounding an aqua rhinestone broach tied with white satin ribbon secured with pearls.

Best man was Josh Fincher of Duncan.

Groomsman was Charles Dore’ of Duncan.

The groom wore a black jacket and shirt with an aqua and black tie with boots and jeans. All the men in the wedding wore boutonnieres designed by the groom and made by his mother. They were wheat stalks with the stems wrapped in burlap, with each featuring a small aqua flower.

Flower girls were Brooke and Kate Dodd, cousins of the bride. Brooke wore the same dress the bride wore in Brooke’s mom’s wedding 15 years ago. They carried tin buckets with rope handles and wooden hearts engraved with the bride and groom’s initials.

Ring bearer was Seth Dodd, cousin of the bride.

He carried a burlap pillow with a large white organza flower in the center that pillowed the rings.

Ushers were Dillon Johnson, brother of the groom, of Duncan and Nathan Gatewood, cousin of the bride, of Duncan.

A video of the bride and groom was created by Jason Mayes, brother of the bride, was shown while the guests were seated.

Reception was in the fellowship hall of Chisholm Trail Church of Christ and reception attendants were Jessica Dore’ of Duncan, Kelsie and Peyton Baker, Dorna Whiteman, Lanita Custer and Tina Tipton, all of Marlow.

Guestbook attendant was Courtney Edwards of Duncan.

The four-tiered wedding cake was made by the bride’s mother and displayed on four varying-height stands made by the bride’s father. The groom’s cake was made by his mother and was designed to look like two horseshoes for good luck. Finger foods were provided by members of the groom’s family.

Hosted by the groom’s parents was a themed Mexican fiesta rehearsal dinner, held the night before the wedding in the fellowship hall at the church.

Destination of the wedding trip was Branson, Mo.

Residence after the trip is Duncan.
