With the Marlow Outlaws and No. 3 Millwood Falcons tied at half, it was anyone’s game in the opening round of regionals Friday night.
The Falcons weren’t pleased about that, and in the second half’s opening minutes, it showed.
Millwood (15-9) blitzed Marlow (14-10) with a 14-0 run to start the half and used that to propel itself to a 55-39 win.
“In the second half, we had a lot of turnovers and your mistakes are amplified against great teams like that,” Marlow coach John Garrett said. “Our offense got a little impatient and they came out super hot shooting the ball.”
Millwood all but solidified the victory in the third quarter, outscoring Marlow 22-3.
Faced with a sudden deficit, the Marlow offense managed just 14 second-half points.
It was a group effort on offese for Millwood, as it had three players score in double figures. Michael Mays led the way with a game high 18.
