DUNCAN — Freezing rain and snow wreaked havoc on the weekend high school sports schedule.

The Duncan swim team’s meet at Midwest City Friday was cancelled. The Demon swimmers have had three meets removed from this season’s schedule. Meets scheduled for Nov. 5 and 7 at the Simmons Center were cancelled because the pool had been closed.

Another event cancelled was Central High hosting Bray-Doyle in boys and girls basketball action. The game was supposed to be the season opener for both schools. The teams will now open the season Tuesday, with the Bronchos at Sterling and the Donkeys at Cement.

Meanwhile, a number of high school football games scheduled for Friday were postponed because of weather and travel concerns. Empire’s game at Hollis was changed to Saturday afternoon for such reasons. Empire lost that game 29-6.
