DUNCAN — The last  regular-season meet is over. Now the Demons have more than two weeks to prepare for regionals.

Duncan’s cross country runners competed in Elgin Tuesday. They will now be idle until the regional meet, which will be held in Norman Saturday, Oct. 26.

“I think a little bit of rest and some specific preparation for regionals will help us get ready for Norman,” said Demon girls coach Dale Harris.

“I’m looking for the times to drop a lot at regionals,” added Demon boys coach Todd Ledford. “We’ll be working on different strategies and look for good times to come at regionals, and particularly at state.”

In Elgin, the Demon boys placed second as a team and two Demon runners claimed the top two individual spots. Mason Bivens won the meet with a time of 16:50 and Walker Clampitt was second in 16:59.

The rest of the runners had a strong pack time, as Justin Morris was 15th in 19:04, Will Hicks was 17th in 19:09, Malachi Spann was 18th in 19:11, Taber Kaspereit was 20th in 19:22, and Jesse Bachman was 22nd in 19:34.

The girls were led by Mattie Bivens, who took fifth in 13:35, and Macey Lagaly, who placed 15th in 14:43. Other results were Hannah Scott, 54th in 17:05; Caitlyn Combest, 55th in 17:08; and McKennah Trusley, 65th in 18:48.
