CENTRAL HIGH —
The Bronchos continued their winning ways in district play.
Central High’s football team improved to 3-0 in District 2B after beating Allen on the road Friday night, 52-14.
“I knew it was a tough road test, but they played well,” said Broncho coach Keith Burton. “We let them (Allen) have a couple big plays, but our guys were able to shut them down in the second half. Our guys responded well and we were able to get another win on the road, for district.”
Kevin Harris rushed for 252 yards on 24 carries with five touchdowns. He also returned a punt 62 yards for a touchdown. Kade Taylor completed 8-of-11 passes for 141 yards with a touchdown. John Repp returned an interception 35 yards for a score.
Although the two teams were close in rushing, with the Bronchos tallying 290 yards to Allen’s 216, Central High had 141 yards passing to the Mustangs’ 58.
The Bronchos opened with a 14-0 lead early in the first quarter, but Allen came back to tie the game. Central High took a 22-14 lead at halftime, then shut out the Mustangs in the second half.
Offensive line coach Jeff Jones praised the effort of the O-line. He said center Derek Davis and right guard Dillon Waller have graded at 80 percent for the season, so both have done very well with blocking.
