DUNCAN — Mitch Boles, a former golfer at the University of Central Oklahoma, posted a two-day score of even par 144 to win the 2013 club championship at The Territory Sunday.

It is the third time for him to win the title. The 28-year-old ex-Marlow High star, won previously in 2010 and 2012.

“It is kind of cool to have your name on the trophy, “Boles said, admitting he hasn’t played much competitive golf recently because of work and church activities. “It was fun just playing with the guys and having a good time.”

Boles shot a two-under 70 from the par 72, 7,110 yard black tees during Saturday’s first round, then followed that with a 74 Sunday. The 144 enabled him to beat runner-up Jimmy Grantham by nine strokes.

“I got off to a good start and played well yesterday,” he said, “but I didn’t have my best stuff today. It wasn’t anything special. I was playing okay, but I triple bogeyed No. 16 (Branding Iron, par four, 435 yards) and that made a difference.”

Following a stellar college career at UCO, Boles played one year (2009-10) on the Adams Golf Pro Tour Series, competing in tournaments in Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Kansas and Louisiana, leaving the tour to assume a position at Wilco Manufacturing and Fab.

Grantham had rounds of 78-75—153 for second place. Albert Johnson finished third at 154 while Todd Holland and Dan Payton tied for fourth at 160

Ryan Scott posted Sunday’s best round of 73 en route to winning low gross honors in the President’s Flight with a 155, six shots ahead of runner-up Kris Boles, who closed at 161. E.J. Buckholts had a 144 for low net.

Billy Beeson took first in the Governor’s Flight with a two-day 169. Gary Wright was second at 173 and Chris Graham claimed low net honors with a 150.
