DUNCAN — Most local football teams have their playoff matchups set, but a few still depend on the outcome of this weekend’s games.

Central High, Empire, Marlow and Velma-Alma have all secured playoff spots entering the final week of the regular season.

Meanwhile, Duncan needs a win this Friday at Chickasha to secure a playoff berth. Comanche is out of the running for a playoff berth.

As far as first-round opponents for area teams are concerned, a few have been determined but a couple still depend on the outcome of Friday’s games.

Here is a summary of each area team’s postseason picture entering Week 10.

Duncan (3-5): The Demons can sew up the fourth playoff spot out of District 1-5A by winning at Chickasha. If the Demons win, they will get a familiar opponent in the first round. Guthrie (9-0) will secure first in District 1-5A by beating Northwest Classen Friday. The Bluejays faced the Demons in the season opener for both teams, a game Guthrie won 46-6.

Marlow: (6-3): The Outlaws secured fourth place in District 1-3A and will likely face Seminole (9-0) in the first round. Seminole can wrap up first in District 2-3A with a win over Chandler Friday. Marlow closes its season Friday in a non-district game against Kingfisher.

Empire (7-2): The Bulldogs’ win at Velma-Alma last week ensured them second in District 4-A and a home playoff game in the first round. Empire will draw Crescent (6-3), who will likely finish third in District 3-A. Crescent still has a non-district game remaining against Pawnee Friday, while the Bulldogs will take a forfeit win over Bray-Doyle.

Velma-Alma (6-3): The Comets will wrap up third place in District 4-A with a win Friday at Healdton. Velma-Alma will likely face Cashion (7-2) to open the playoffs. Although Cashion still has a District 4-A game remaining against Crossings Christian, the Wildcats have a district win over Crescent and thus hold the  tiebreaker for second.

Central High (6-3): The Bronchos can place third by beating Cyril in District 1-C action this Friday. They would then get the second-place team from District 2-B. Pond Creek-Hunter and Laverne, both 9-0, will play for first and second in District 2-B this Friday.
