Moore leads Stephens County runners at 13th OKC Marathon

DUNCAN — Jeff Moore topped all efforts of Stephens County runners in the 13th annual Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon and Half-Marathon in downtown Oklahoma City Sunday.

Moore of Duncan posted a time of 1:38.36 in the 35-39-year-old male division to finish 175th in the half-marathon. Melissa Ray, also of Duncan, had the best local female finish, finishing the 13.1-mile course in 1:51.19 for 795th place.

 Jody Atchley of Duncan, running in the men’s 45-49-year-old division, placed 569th in the 26.2-mile marathon with a 4:00.04 time.

Jake Buhler of Edmond won the marathon for the second straight year . He ran the distance in 2:26.13, more than a second faster than his 2012 winning time. McKale Davis of Fairfax won the women’s marathon with a time of 2:53.30.

There were 2,738 marathon finishers with an average time of 4:46.4.

Jerry Faulkner of Queens, N.Y. had the best men’s half-marathon at 1:09.57 while 69-year-old Deanna Beyer of Ann Arbor, Mich. won the women’s half-marathon at 1:13.24.

There were 9,099 half-marathon finishers with an average time of 2:29.32.

More than 24,000 runners from all over the world took part in the marathon, a half-marathon, a relay, a 5K run and a kids’ marathon.
