DUNCAN — After claiming their season opener against Healdton, the Empire Bulldogs looked to be on course for a 2-0 start Tuesday afternoon against Ryan.

That was until the final three innings took place.

Leading 9-0 entering the bottom of the fifth inning, the Cowboys chipped away and finally broke the Bulldogs resistance and eventually came from behind to win 13-10.

“We made some mistakes and committed five errors in those final three innings,” Empire coach Caleb Cole said. “Ryan made plays and got the big hits when they needed them and that’s what it came down to.”

Ryan scored four runs in the fifth inning, to go with four more in the sixth before winning the game with five runs in the seventh inning.

Dylan Twigg, Cole Bridges, Mace Robinson, Braden Hill and Freddy Larsen all collected RBI’s in the contest for the Bulldogs.

Twigg (0-1) took the loss on the mound for the Bulldogs (1-1) throwing 1 and 2/3 innings work.

Empire will be back at home Thursday afternoon as Geronimo will provide the opposition with first pitch set for 4:30 p.m.
